The Michael Brown Shooting Tragedy & Proverbs 18:17

Recently, I began to contemplate a way to once more convey here the knee-jerk mistake I see many people making in the aftermath of the most recent media-sensationalized tragedy-- this time being the Michael Brown shooting tragedy. However, before I could begin an effort to do so, I came across this excellent article by Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association (AFA) and host of the Focal Point talk radio program. You can find the article here or visit the AFA website here.

"The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him" (Prov. 18:17, ESV).

The Bible warns us to be sure we hear from both sides and collect full information before we make up our minds. This ancient wisdom of Solomon has been validated again in Ferguson, Missouri.

The early narrative, spun by racial-grievance mongers, was that Michael Brown, a harmless teddy bear of a boy, was shot by a racist officer because he was black, that he was shot for jaywalking, and that he was shot in the back execution style.

Riots, mayhem, violence and looting ensued, so unremitting that Gov. Jay Nixon has finally been reduced to calling in the National Guard (after complaining all week about the "militarizing of the police." (Missouri Democrats, by the way, including Nixon and Rep. Clay did not call Attorney General Eric Holder in to "investigate;" they called him in to "prosecute.")

But cracks are starting to appear in the Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton/New Black Panther narrative. A caller to a local talk-radio program in St. Louis, who claimed to be a friend of Officer Darren Wilson's significant other, gave what she said was the officer's version of events.

The account goes as follows: Wilson stopped Brown and his friend because they were walking in the street. The officer told them to get on the sidewalk. They responded belligerently. The officer tried to exit the vehicle, at which point Brown slammed the door shut to prevent him. Sometime during the stop, Wilson learned via police radio that someone matching Brown's description was a suspect in an armed robbery at a nearby convenience store, a burglary that had happened just minutes before. He observed what looked like the contraband in Wilson's hand.

Now dealing with a criminal suspect, Wilson ordered Brown to stop so he could be detained, at which point apparently Brown stuck the upper half of his body into Wilson's squad car and lunged for the officer's gun. In the tussle over the weapon, it was discharged one time inside the vehicle. Following the shot and his apparent inability to wrest control of the gun from Wilson, Brown took off. Wilson, as police protocol dictates, pursued him.

Officers, of course, cannot simply allow a criminal suspect to run away. With gun drawn, Wilson pursued Brown and ordered him to stop. At some point, Brown stopped, turned around and confronted Wilson with angry epithets. And then apparently after taunting Wilson, he charged him. Wilson then fired six rounds, each of which hit Brown, the last of which entered his skull and killed him. According to the radio caller, he fell dead practically at Wilson's feet.

This account has been inadvertently corroborated by a conversation between an eyewitness and a bystander, caught on tape by a man using his phone's video recorder. The eyewitness twice said he saw Brown charging Wilson. He said Brown "doubled back toward him" (that is, toward the officer) and "he kept coming toward him" even though the officer was firing at him in order to get him to stop.

The account of Wilson's friend indicates that Wilson thought Brown was hopped up on something, from the way he was charging and the fact that not even five bullets could slow him down. (This will make the toxicology report extremely important, which likely won't be released for a week or so.)  Now this woman's account is a third-party account and obviously requires confirmation. But that evidence is slowly trickling out.

The first autopsy, for instance, performed on Brown at the direction of his own family, reveals that all six shots that hit his body entered from the front. Not a single entrance wound was found on his back. This destroys the testimony of Brown's accomplice in the cigar heist who claimed that Brown was shot in the back as he was fleeing.

The autopsy report is consistent with the accounts that Brown was shot while he was charging the officer at full speed. Even the Brown family's pathologist, Dr. Michael Baden, admitted Monday morning at a news conference that the fatal wound on the top of Brown's head is consistent with the possibility that he had his head down and was closing on Wilson in an effort to spear him.

The surveillance video from the store, which Eric Holder did not want the public to see, reveals Brown—all 6 feet 4 inches and 292 pounds of him—to be aggressive and violent, stealing a batch of cigars and shoving the store owner against a display rack. He was not the "gentle giant" the radical left wanted us to think.

Holder has ordered a federal autopsy, likely because the family ordered autopsy does not play into the racist narrative he intends to foster. It's also possible that the grievance mongers had some awareness that the facts might challenge their meme. Not wanting "to let a good crisis go to waste," they hurried to whip as many people into a frenzy as they could before the facts could challenge their version of events.

So while at first blush this incident was painted as a racially motivated execution, fresh information reveals that this incident likely had nothing to do with race at all. It was about criminal behavior. It was about strong-armed robbery, assault, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and physically coming after him with violent intent.

Do we know everything at this point? Of course not. We do not, for instance, yet have Officer Wilson's official account. But we do have enough evidence to begin thinking that the hyperventilating we have heard from the press (which actually printed a map to Officer Wilson's home) and from race-baiters is unlikely to be true on any salient point.

So it turns out the Bible has been right all along. "The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him." Good advice for everybody, including the press, Eric Holder, the governor of Missouri and the president of the United States.

In Jordan: A Sobering Testimony

There are times and places where there is a sort of hell on earth. Darkness, terror and volatility are in the air at those times and in those places. Therein, unspeakable wrongs are done to fellow men. Death, anger, trauma, hurts, ruin, and still more results. It is in those times and thereafter that Love is so desperately needed. That healing is so desperately needed. That forgiveness and redemption are so desperately needed. That Light is so desperately needed. That God's Word above the word of men is so desperately needed. That God's Kingdom and God's Holy Spirit are so desperately needed.

That God is so desperately needed.

In those places and at such times, there is a desperation that will render even the hardest, most hostile of men disarmed as they process the hurt with the greatest of pain and sorrow. These are the moments of an incredible opportunity. An opportunity to defeat the plans of this darkness in which they suffer and to impact their lives forever for the better.  An opportunity to love and heal. An opportunity to demostrate the Good News. An opportunity to partner with God to set into motion a fresh movement toward Christ.

There are currently many places on earth that are desperately opportune. However, I have never seen one as opportune as Jordan is today.

Blood curdling stories from the civil wars in Syria and now Iraq leave no doubt as to why millions are fleeing those countries. Assad and ISIS are literally destroying everything and everyone in their paths. Millions are fleeing and none more than to Jordan.

However, by it's very nature, this opportunity is a closing window. The window of such an opportunity closes when the trauma and and the anger and the sorrow has been processed and hardened into something ungodly without God's touch of healing and redemption. After that window has closed, the people become difficult to reach.

Thus, I want to share an article in hopes of calling awareness and quick action among believers as to this heart-wrenching climax of events over which I can strongly hear God calling to all His children: "LOOK! LOOK! I HAVE PREPARED THE SOIL! I HAVE WEEDED OUT THE TARES! WHILE THEY ARE AT WAR, I HAVE GATHERED THE PEOPLE IN ONE PLACE! I HAVE PREPARED THE WAY! WHO WILL GO?"

The following report is from a pastor from a Messianic Jewish congregation in Tel Aviv. He is a native-born Israeli and has a heart of gold. He recently had the opportunity to go to Jordan with a team from Israel made up of Jewish and Arab Believers. His report from Jordan is quite powerful.
You can find the original article here. Please share with others. What is happening in Syria ranks right up there with the greatest human tragedies of the past century, if not history.

HELL HAS ARRIVED IN SYRIA
A few hours ago, I arrived back in Israel after visiting Jordan, and I am still trying to digest what I have seen there. The evil in the Muslim world is overwhelming. What is happening in Syria unveils  its true face. Yeshua said that the thief comes in order to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10), and Syria is a clear example of this.

The army of Assad is wiping out city after city—both the Islamic rebels and Assad’s army kill everybody in their way… and the victims are mostly found among the innocent—children, women who have been raped, people murdered in front of their family, old people, who are tortured. For millions of people hell has arrived in their land. Over three million refugees have fled Syria, out of which one and a half million escaped to Jordan.

There is no doubt that the main victims of the war in Syria are children. Many of them are killed, injured and left behind as orphans.

THE CITY FHES
We traveled to Amman as a group of nine Israelis – seven Arab Israeli pastors and two Messianic Jews. Our first stop was in Fhes, half an hour away from Amman. There are tens of thousands of Syrian refugees in this town. In the refugee camps, which have been set up near the Syrian border, there are tents where the refugees receive food and medical care. The problem is that the camp is already full, and there is no possibility to enter it. Therefore, thousands of families go to other Jordanian cities .

In Fhes I saw Syrian children living on the streets, begging for money. Most of the families manage to rent an apartment in one of the poor districts. Sometimes, a family of 25 people—parents, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles and their children live in one apartment. The apartments are unbelievably overcrowded. In some of those we visited, there was no furniture, only were mattresses with  bags  of clothes next to each one. There were no tables, chairs or other furniture. In some cases, more than one person slept on the same mattress. At the beginning, I didn’t understand why there were so many mattresses in the distribution center. But, after having visited people in their homes, I understood, that the children, the old and the sick  are spending most of their time on the mattress, and therefore it was important for us, among other things, to provide families with mattresses.

THE STORY OF YUSSUF
One of the families we visited was the family of Yussuf. Yussuf is a 30-year-old Sunnite Muslim, married with two little daughters. He told us that he grew up in the Syrian part of the Golan Heights—an area very close to the Israeli border. Before the war broke out, this part of the Golan Heights was populated by Sunnite, Shiite, Alevi and Druze Muslims, as well as Christians—living peacefully side by side. After the war broke out, there was a split, and all these groups started to fight one another.

Yussuf told us, that he was a Sunnite,  raised up to believe, that Israel was the biggest enemy of the Arabic people. However, at a certain stage of the war, the situation in the Golan Heights became so difficult, that he and his family started to hope, that Israel would interfere and occupy the whole of the Golan Heights. He understood that the Israeli government is much better than Assad’s regime. Assad’s army completely destroyed the city Yussuf lived in. They bombed, leveled and burned everything.

Many people that Yussuf knew are now dead—including family members and close friends. Yussuf shares a one-room apartment with his wife’s family in Fhes. We gave them food, mattresses, diapers, cooking pots, baby food, clothes and games. The family of Yussuf was very thankful and said that the believers who help them, give them a lot of comfort in the difficult life situation they are in.

THE STORY OF MUHAMMAD
During one of our visits, we met Muhammad, a 17-year-old boy, who was shot in his knee by the Syrian army while fleeing from Syria to Jordan. Injured, he managed to cross the border, and was treated by the Jordanian medical workers, who finally let him join his family in Fhes. All these things happened only two weeks before our meeting, and when we visited his family, he had to leave in the middle of the meeting in order to go to work. We asked him, how he managed to work with such a serious injury to his leg, for we noticed that the entire knee was covered by sutures. He looked at us sadly and said, that there was no other way. Eleven people lived in the house, and only he and two of his brothers could work. He explained that the refugees didn’t have a working permit, so they had to work many hours for small amounts of money. He works in a restaurant 10 hours a day for only six dinars, which is equivalent of $7.50. Before Muhammad left for work, we asked him if we could pray for him, and he agreed. We prayed for healing for his leg, and of course, for the healing of his heart from all the hatred and anger he harbored in his soul. We prayed for the whole family, that the Lord would give them comfort in all the pain they were going through, and invited them to come to the local church.

THE STORY OF AIDA
In another visit, we met a lot of young widows with children. Most of the women were between ages of 18-22. Aida was one of them—a widow at 21, with  two little girls. When we visited her family, she didn’t say a word, and didn’t stop crying.  We saw the sadness and the pain in her eyes. To be a young widow is a tragedy, but to be a young widow in the Muslim world is even a greater one.

In the Muslim world, a widow is a burden, and many times the family tries to make her marry an older man, so that she would stop being a burden to the family. Aida lost her husband two years ago, when the Syrian army entered their village and simply executed all the young men, including her husband. It was sad to see her little daughters—ages five and three, and to know that without a father to protect and to take care of them, they were exposed to a very difficult life. We pray to God through Yeshua, that He might show them the way, how to find in Him their hiding place from all their pain.

THE STORY OF RANA
One day, as we were visiting refugee families, an elderly woman whose name was Rana approached us. She asked us to pray for her son, who has been missing for about two years. All she knows is, that before the war broke out, her son was a soldier in the army of Assad. When the war began, he joined the rebel side. Now he is missing, and she doesn’t know, whether he is alive, injured or dead. Although the chances of him still being alive are very slim, she continues to believe her son is still alive and will return to her one day.
Syrian refugees

During our conversations with the Syrian refugees, we saw there was a high percentage of people with missing family members. These people don’t have peace day or night for lack of knowledge about what happened to their loved ones. We prayed along with Rana, that God would give her an answer concerning what happened to her son. Who knows, maybe there will be a happy end to this story.

THE STORY OF A PASTOR
When we arrived in Jordan, we met a certain pastor. He felt in his heart a calling from God to minister to the Syrian refugees. He told us that in the 80’s and 90’s there was a devastating war between Iraq and Iran. During this war, over one million refugees passed the border from Iraq to Jordan, and the congregations in Jordan had the opportunity to minister, to help and to bring the Gospel to the refugees who came from Iraq. The pastor told us, at that period, hundreds of refugees came to the Lord Yeshua. After the war ended and they returned  to Iraq, many of them founded congregations, which brought good fruit to the Kingdom—leading many Iraqi families to Yeshua.

This testimony gives hope to the believers in Jordan who work with the Syrian refugees. We want to believe that through this joined ministry between Israeli Messianic Jews and the Israeli Arab Christians among the Syrian refugees, many of them will give their lives to Yeshua, return after the war to their home country and spread the Gospel among their friends and families. Let us continue to pray that this ministry will bring good fruit unto the Lord.

THE CITY IRBID
On our last day, we were in the city of Irbid—and hour and a half from Amman. We turned one of the main rooms of a congregation into a distribution center and invited a hundred refugee families to come and receive items including food, clothes, games for the children, diapers, baby food and more! The circumstances in Irbid are very hard. Almost 600,000 refugees live there. From a sanitary point of view, it is a disaster. The government cannot handle all the waste on the streets, so the refugees burn their piles of waste. The local population abuses the refugees. A member of the congregation told us that his landlord is trying to get him out of the apartment in order to rent it to Syrian refugees. The reason being, that while he pays 50 dinars a month, Syrian refugees pay between 250 and 300 dinars a month. Two or three refugee families share one apartment, and are ready to pay a lot of money in order to not to live on the street. Jordanian citizens also rent them apartments, which are uninhabitable—such as shops, stores and industrial buildings. The Jordanians continually increase the prices and threaten to throw the people on the street if  they refuse to pay.

Additionally, there is women trafficing, which I call  “prostitution with a religious seal of approval.” There is a Muslim law, which allows a man to marry a woman for a week or two, then to divorce her and return her to her family. The sheikhs and the rich people in Jordan try all the time to seduce refugee families with money. Mostly it is the case with older men who are trying to get young girls , whose age many times does not surpass 14 or 15. The Syrian families are sometimes in such difficult situations, that they agree to sell their girls for money.

PAIN AND HOPE
The pain of the families is great. There is no family, who has not lost loved ones. We saw a lot of widows and orphans, mothers who lost their children, people with missing body parts. Many refugees are injured. The war in Syria is a full-fledged catastrophe. We saw hatred and anger in their eyes. Everybody there is talking about revenge. When they speak about Assad and his army, there is murder in their eyes. During our visits to families we spoke with them about forgiveness and the faith in Yeshua—that forgiveness and faith can set us free from all anger and purify our heart from it. We hope that the humanitarian aid and our common prayers will lead them to the love of Yeshua and to the ways of God.

I returned to Israel with a lot of pain, because of the sufferings these refugees have to go through. But I also returned with a lot of hope, knowing that just as there were many new believers after the war between Iraq and Iran, so also the war in Syria will unveil the evil and the lies of Islam, and many  people will understand, that God sent His only begotten Son to die for them, so that they may live.

It’s Christmastime Again

The following is a blog post by Brother Dale over at Revival Fire. You can find the original post here.

It’s Christmastime again.  I can’t believe that I’ve been saved for almost 45 years now and have been able to be part of so many real Christmases.

It wasn’t always so.  As a young man who refused to believe in such nonsense such as a god that I couldn’t see, feel, or touch, Christmas remained simply a time of tinsel, pretty lights, Thomas Kincaid settings, and presents that you couldn’t afford.  What a difference a simple prayer can make!

Over the years, I have heard all the reasons of why we shouldn’t celebrate Christmas – and I’m sure you’ve heard your share also.  Born in a desire for righteousness but nurtured in a sea of self-righteousness, the razor-sharp arguments contend for an elimination of anything that smacks of red and green hues.  The reasons are prolific.  Let’s see:

- Jesus wasn’t born on December 25th
-It’s a pagan holiday
-The Roman Catholics started it
-There’s a reference to the Christmas tree as an abomination in Isaiah
-The only gift giving in the Bible was when Herod cut off John the Baptist’s head
-Jesus never said to celebrate His birth; only His death.
etc., etc.

I got it. Really I do.  But aren’t there enough commandments in the Bible without having to make up some new ones?  Does it really make us more righteous to abstain from celebrating Christmas, or does it just make us seem like we’re more “enlightened” than everyone else?

After so many years, there is one thing that I point to that has impressed itself on me that trumps all of those seemingly theological intelligent objections.  I have noticed that every year about this time, there is a unique spirit of peace that descends upon the Earth like a softly fallen snow.  For this one short period of time each year, people feel something so very different than the rest of the year.  Grumpy old men find time to do something nice for others, people in a rush stop long enough to help strangers, strangers reach a sincere hand of friendship to people they’ve never had the time for before, and children open up in wide-eyed imaginations that are more wonderful than any other time in the year.

It’s Christmastime again.

I believe that God in all His loving mercy for mankind reaches down to touch humanity with a taste of the Love of God that we seem to be numb to the rest of the year, just as a reminder that He sent His only begotten Son as the ultimate Christmas gift to all men everywhere who would accept Him that they may be saved from their sins.  It’s a taste of what Heaven must be like, sent down from our Heavenly Father who would have all men to be saved.  A glimpse at what must be an eternal Christmastime.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas, from all of us, to all of you.

An Observation on A&E Suspending Phil Robertson

Earlier today, news broke that A&E Network "suspended" Phil Robertson, the lead man of Duck Dynasty, for his comments against homosexuality in a recent GQ Magazine personal profile. You can read more on the story from The Hollywood Reporter here.

The circumstance is unjust towards Phil. This is my rapid reaction to the nerve-fraying nonsense.
First, though, understand that I do not speak condemnation to the persons but to the lies and actions from the lies-- the sin and the devils behind it all. We all struggle against the kingdom of darkness and it's lies and enticements. Some with hetero lust, some homo lust, some drunkeness, and so on. Whichever you have been deceived about, don't feel bad or condemned. You are not a "bad person". You do need deliverance, but it is totally out of God's love for you. So never confuse strong emotions and feelings with something "being okay". Don't claim or bind yourself to the strong urge in question-- the sin is not YOU! What is deception if it doesn't make something seem real or necessary? Oh, it's gonna feel real, alright. That is the nature of deception. You just have to accept what God says about the matter and, in faith, hold fast to His word despite whatever strong enticement there is. There is powerful deliverance too-- something many Christians are ignorant of-- and that is one of the biggest deficiencies in the church. So take heart, those ignorant churches aren't IT! Don't stop there, journey closer to Father God! He's so much better than you've ever known! Really, I'm not sure how to thoroughly get you to understand how much Father God loves you and how much I love you while at the same time seeking your deliverance. It's the sin that's wrong, NOT the sinnner! We are ALL sinners. I love you whoever you are, okay?

Anyway, I haven't had the chance to watch Duck Dynasty yet. So don't dismiss me as a fanboy.

That said, let me get this straight, "his own personal beliefs" gets Phil suspended but, "A&E Networks ...always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community" is not equivalent of 'own personal beliefs'?? THAT'S YOUR OWN PERSONAL BELIEFS, A&E!! Hypocrites. I don't see GQ profiling A&E. No, they are profiling PHIL! He's his own man. He's not you, A&E. He doesn't represent you. No, you are apparently contracted to a REALITY show. YOU ARE JUST THE CAMERA PEEKING INTO HIS PERSONAL LIFE. He didn't even say that on the show. You are trolling, A&E. You are encroaching. You are reaching. You are targeting. It's a different story if this was an employee representing A&E. Phil isn't your employee. At least that is how A&E has sold it to us in the past. Either way, something stinks here. In addition, it is intriguing how this encroachment might spill over from personal rights into business encroachment since Phil's business-- Duck Commander, his employment-- is also being filmed. If I were Phil, I'd consider filing suit and taking filming rights to FOX or Netflix.

Besides, PHIL IS RIGHT. What he said is the God-ordained TRUTH! You read what those poor deceived groups say and I can't even finish reading their statement. The lies makes me want to beat the devil's head in!! Why do we put up with political correctness, pandering, and persecution-lite? I hope Phil takes a stand  and I hope you will too the next time you are affected by such.
